The Difference between Carbon Steel and Stainless Steel

Many things we used in the daily life are made of stainless steel and carbon steel, which are hard and corrosion-resistant. So what are the different between them? Following we will talk their differences from 4 aspects.



1. Composition. Stainless steel contains aluminum alloy and other kinds of material, which are resistant to acid, alkali and oxidation. Carbon steel is has carbon content of 0.0217%-2.1%, also it contains a small amount of silicon.

2. Density. The density of carbon steel is higher than stainless steel.

3. Resistance. Stainless steel has a higher resistivity than carbon steel.

4. Magnetism. Stainless steel has magnetic induction, which will produce magnetic induction when it is cold processed, and it can be demagnetized by scalding with hot water.

How to Distinguish 201 and 304 Stainless Steel Plate

1.   304 stainless steel plate   is shiny and has a good gloss with smooth touching, while 201 stainless steel plate is dark and has no gloss with rough uneven touching.
