What are the differences between cold-rolled steel and stainless steel?

The differences between cold rolled steel and stainless steel are mainly reflected in three aspects, respectively, the use, characteristics, and raw materials.

1. Different applications:

A. Main uses of cold rolled steel: mainly used in automobile manufacturing, electrical products, and so on.

B. Main uses of stainless steel: the majority of stainless steel products need good welding performance of raw materials, like tableware, vacuum cup, steel pipe, water heater, water dispenser, etc

2. Different Characteristics:

A. Characteristics of the cold rolled steel: Because there is no annealing treatment, its hardness is very high (HRB > 90); The machining performance is very poor, only simple directional bending less than 90 degrees can be carried out.

B. Characteristics of stainless steel: weldability, corrosion resistance, polishability, heat resistance.

3. Different raw materials:

A. Raw material of cold rolled steel: Cold rolled sheet is a product made of hot rolled coil and rolled below recrystallization temperature at room temperature.

B. Raw materials of stainless steel: It contains 17 ~ 22% chromium, and the better steel also contains nickel.
