Stainless Steel Manufacturing Process

图片
The manufacture of stainless steel involves a series of processes. The first step is melting, in which the ingredients are melted together in an electric arc furnace. The second is the removal of excess carbon, which is done by treating the molten metal in an AOD (argon oxygen decarbonization) converter. The converter reduces carbon by injecting a mixture of oxygen and argon. At this stage, other alloying elements such as nickel and molybdenum can be added to the AOD converter. When a low carbon content is required, VOD (vacuum oxidation decarbonization) converters can be used. Next comes the tuning and stirring. Most stainless steels have very strict quality requirements. The tuning process even allows for fine-tuning of the chemical composition. Adjustment is when the steel is stirred slowly to remove unwanted elements and improve consistency while keeping the desired composition within temperature limits. The forming step is to cast molten steel into shape. These forms may be patter...

How Is Stainless Steel Produced?

图片
Stainless steel is known for its high performance, and the use of this material has been an integral part of modern life, is widely used in heavy industry, construction, automobile manufacturing, surgery, and dentistry. So how is stainless steel material produced?  The first is to choose raw materials. Stainless steel is an iron alloy that requires to contain chromium, nickel silicon, manganese complex, carbon, and other added elements. It is also possible to fine-tune the properties of the final alloy by varying the amount of various alloying elements. Chromium is the most important element in the manufacture of stainless steel. It is necessary for the production of  stainless steel , and there is currently no viable alternative. Chromium is a hard corrosion-resistant transitional element. In general, the higher the chromium content, the stronger its corrosion-resistant performance will be. After the raw materials are gathered, we can begin the stainless steel manufacturing p...

How to Get Martensite in the Processing of Stainless Steel

图片
The purpose of the solution treatment is to obtain some martensite to increase the hardness of   stainless steel . Let's take a look at the solution treatment of stainless steel pipes: 1. Intermediate statute of limitations. Keeping the temperature(760±15) ℃ for 90min after the solution treatment, so that Cr23C6 carbides are precipitated from the austenite, which reduces the content of carbon and alloying elements in the austenitic 904L stainless steel pipe, and increases the Ms point. After reaching 70°C and then cooling to room temperature, martensite + α ferrite + retained austenite will be obtained, and the retained austenite will be decomposed after aging at 510°C. 2. After high temperature adjustment and cryogenic treatment, heat stainless steel to 950℃ for 90min. Due to the increase of the Ms point, a small amount of martensite can be obtained by cooling to room temperature, and get more martensite after cold treatment at -70℃ for 8h. 3. After solution treatment by cold defo...

The Difference Between 304 and Ordinary Stainless Steel

图片
We all know that 304 stainless steel material is better than ordinary stainless steel, but many people do not know the details. Today we will give you an analysis of this problem.     Difference 1: High temperature resistance. Compared with ordinary stainless steel, 304 stainless steel has high temperature resistance properties, with a bearing temperature reaching 800℃, but ordinary stainless steel may damage at this temperature.     Difference 2:  Anti-corrosion. 304 stainless steel is the most widely used chrome-nickel, so its chemical properties are relatively stable. In terms of corrosion resistance, 304 stainless steel has good anti-corrosion function. Difference 3:  High toughness. 304 stainless steel features excellent processing performance and high toughness. In the production process, its excellent processing performance benefits to the quality of the products.  Difference 4:  Lead content. The lead content of 304 stainless ste...

Characteristic of Stainless Steel Angle Bar

图片
Stainless steel has various materials, such as 316, 321, 410, 430, etc. The characteristics of   stainless steel angle bar   with different materials is different, so what are they? 316 stainless steel angle bar: corrosion resistance, strong atmospheric corrosion resistance, stable high temperature strength. 321 stainless steel angle bar: strong resistance to crystal corrosion. 410 stainless steel angle bar: strong resistance to welding deformation, high temperature resistance. 430 stainless steel angle bar: strong corrosion resistance, good formability, excellent high temperature oxidation resistance.

The Application of Stainless Steel Coil

图片
Stainless steel coil has strong corrosion resistance and rust resistance, and its excellent quality makes it an important industrial raw material and construction material. 1. Automobile Industry Stainless steel coil  features corrosion resistance and is lightweight, therefore, it is widely used in automobile manufacturing. For example, a car shell requires a lot of stainless steel coil plates. According to statistics, a car needs about 10-30 kg of stainless steel coil, while American cars need 40 kg of stainless steel coil. At present, some international brands have begun to use stainless steel coils as the material structure of the car. That not only can greatly reduce the weight of the car but also can greatly extend the service life of the car. 2. Water Storage and Transportation Water is vulnerable to contamination during storage and transport, so it is essential to use appropriate equipment and materials for storage and transport. Water storage and transportation equipm...

The Difference Between 201, 304, 316, and 400 Stainless Steel

图片
T he differences between   201, 304, 316, and 400 stainless steel   are: different structures, different magnetic properties, and different advantages. 1. Different structure 201 stainless steel is the general name of 201 stainless steel and acid-resistant steel. The main structural components are chromium, manganese and nickel. 304 stainless steel, also known as 18/8 stainless steel in the industry, is a chromium and nickel stainless steel. 316 stainless steel incorporates metal molybdenum, which consolidates the molecular structure of stainless steel. 400 stainless steel is martensitic stainless steel. 2. Different magnetic 201, 306, and 316 stainless steels are not magnetic, while 400 stainless steel is magnetic. 3. Different advantages 201 is acid-resistant steel, which refers to steel that is resistant to corrosion by chemically corrosive media such as acid, alkali, and salt. 304 stainless steel has good corrosion resistance, heat resistance, low temperature strength and ...
